Toby Hoare is a Global Client Lead at WPP, leading the WPP Unilever Team since January 2020. Prior to taking on the role of Global Client Lead, WPP Unilever Team, Toby was the Vice Chairman of Wunderman Thompson Worldwide, playing a strategic role advising some of WPP’s key clients. He also sits on the board of various minority companies, including a Middle East based communications group, and one of Germany’s leading agencies. From 2006 - 2019, Toby was CEO of JWT Europe. During this time, he oversaw the acquisition of digital agencies in five markets and focussed on building collaborative and diverse teams (hiring JWT London’s first female CEO), to serve the agency’s clients. In 2013, Toby also assumed the Chairmanship of Geometry Global, a leading global activation and shopper marketing agency. In 2003, Toby successfully led the high-profile global marketing services pitch for HSBC. This was one of the first “holding company” pitches held by any major global company. “The world’s local bank” subsequently became the most valuable banking brand in the world. Toby’s interests lie in building diverse and energised teams focussing on real issues, which are disrupting our clients' businesses. He is passionate about creativity, brands, and fully understands the importance of data, analytics, and technology. Toby is fully committed to WPP’s “creative transformation“ agenda. Before joining WPP, Toby held several leadership positions at Young & Rubicam (becoming the youngest MD of the London office), and was Chairman of The Bates Group (formerly owned by Cordiant Plc.). Toby has also been on the Board of BPG Group since 2000 as a nominee of Cordiant/ WPP. Throughout his professional career, Toby has served on several commercial, educational, and charitable boards both in the UK and overseas including Hydra Ventures (Adidas), Dubai International Academy, and recently became the Chairman of the London Museum of Brands.
